JDSU Expands T-BERD/MTS Platform

JDSU introduced new features to its T-BERD/MTS-6000A platform that the company says makes it the industry's smallest and most complete all-in-one solution for testing Ethernet over SONET/SDH - using one module and one GUI for all interfaces up to 10G. The GUI guides users directly to the network layer that is causing trouble without the need for them to be an expert in every layer, according to JDSU.

The T-BERD/MTS-6000A offers standard SONET/SDH test capabilities (including overhead analysis, round-trip-delay testing, and service disruption testing with multiple different triggers). It also provides the ability to set up and analyze Virtual Concatenation (VCAT) structures as well as verify the correct transformation of asynchronous Ethernet frames into synchronous SONET/SDH containers using GFP encapsulation. Within the same module and GUI, the T-BERD/MTS-6000A performs Ethernet/IP tests such as traffic generation and analysis, delay measurements, packet jitter analysis and ICMP pings. Alarm, error insertion and analysis capabilities at all layers stress test the network and verify correct reporting in network management.
