CableServ® offers a series of AGC Module Upgrades to allow sensing of QAM modulated signals as AGC Reference in “all Digital” networks.
Applications
- Allow existing HFC networks to convert to “All Digital” carriage while eliminating the need to maintain an Analog channel as AGC Reference.
As networks migrate to Digital transmission, there remains a need for AGC Pilot signals in order to stabilize the RF network. Maintaining an Analog carrier for this purpose is inefficient, as the same 6MHz occupied spectrum could carry several Digital services. CableServ can upgrade AGC and ADU modules to operate on QAM Digital signals. Standard frequency options are 609MHz and 711MHz (center of CATV/EIA Channels 88 and 110). Operating level sensitivity allows for Digital signals 6-10dB lower than previous Analog Peak levels.
Module Upgrade Versions include:
- Motorola/GI® ADU and ACB
- Scientific Atlanta® LE II, System Amplifier and GainMaker AGC modules
- Philips/C-COR® LE98, FlexMax 320,GNA, TNA, 6-GNA and G3A Series
- AUGAT® SDAT, SDAB and SDLE
- Amplifiers employing non-modular (on board) AGC circuits, such as C-COR®
FNT/FNB/E7 can also be converted to QAM by cycling through the CableServ facility
